American Rescue Plan reflects Biden’s Priorities
With an urgency to provide additional relief to individuals and businesses struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic, President Joe Biden called Congress to enact the American Rescue Plan (ARP). Swiftly passed on March 10, 2021, the ARP provides $1.9 trillion to respond to COVID-19 relief as well as other priorities for the Biden Administration.
The Civic Data Design Lab team expanded on the detailed summary of the ARP, released by Holland & Knight, by creating a dataset which breaks down the spending categories and itemizes provisions within the act. As expected of a covid relief stimulus package, much of the assistance goes directly to provide support for those hardest hit by the pandemic, including tax relief and unemployment provisions.
