Overview

Many Canadian cities have changed their zoning rules to allow multi-family homes in single-family neighborhoods. This increased density enables cities to better support public transportation, schools, and amenities, creating a more walkable and vibrant urban life. In collaboration with partners at the University of Toronto, we have developed an application that uses data to help residents determine whether redeveloping their home is feasible. Once residents understand the potential for redevelopment, the application combines zoning data with building construction figures to estimate the associated costs. This project empowers not only real estate developers but also everyday homeowners to recognize the untapped value of their properties, contributing to incremental urban improvements and more sustainable city growth.
