Lyel Resner has an unusual breadth of cross-sector expertise in Social Innovation. His work is at the nexus of social and economic value creation. Most recently, Lyel was the Head of PreCollege and Social Impact at The Flatiron School, New York’s leading school for web and mobile development that has worked with the White House and The City of New York on groundbreaking economic mobility initiatives. Under Lyel's leadership, Flatiron Precollege grew to 13 cities, achieved 10x year-over-year revenue growth, and partnered with Google, Teach for America, and DoSomething.org. Flatiron was recently acquired by WeWork. Lyel is a frequent speaker on the the subjects of social innovation and education, and has given talks at Google, MIT, SXSW, the US State Department, as well as internationally. Lyel has taught Social Innovation as an Adjunct Professor at NYU Stern School of Business, where he is now an Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and currently sits on the boards of the Centre for Social Innovation, The Bronx Academy for Software Engineering, and Sourcemap. He holds degrees in Physics and Political Science from MIT, where he was a Burchard Scholar, and an advanced degree in Business, Media + Technology, and Education from NYU where he was a Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship. He was named a World Economic Forum Global Shaper in 2013.
