Trained as an architect, Chaewon Ahn's work as a PhD student at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT focuses on understanding the division of social groups in the society through social network service data, studying the spatial character of such divide, and rethinking the role of public space. She studied architecture at the Korea National University of Arts in Korea, and received a Masters of Science in Architecture studies (SMArchS) at the Architecture and Urbanism group at the MIT in 2015. Before joining the PhD program at DUSP, she worked at the Senseable City Lab as a research lead and data visualization specialist.
