“NextStop” Opens at Cooper Hewitt

December 13, 2018
On December 13, Director Sarah Williams and Civic Data Design Lab team members celebrated the opening of their contribution to The Cooper Hewitt’s exhibit “The Road Ahead: Reimagining Mobility.” This exhibit, the product of 40 different labs, companies, and think-tanks, explores “how design will improve and expand options for urban transport,” according to Caroline Baumann, the museum’s director.

NextStop, the CDDL’s exhibit, asks visitors to consider how future mobility options will impact community equity, accessibility, and use. “Popular perception will drive the adoption of future transportation options,” asserted Civic Data Design Lab Director Sarah Williams, “but there’s currently not enough research into how people think these transportation options will impact them and their communities. Our exhibit pushes forward the conversation regarding how members of the community perceive these dramatic changes will impact their lives and the lives of those around them.”

The exhibit is on display through March 30, 2019. For more information, visit the digital visualization of responses at https://nextstop.mit.edu/
